Appledore is about an hour from the M25.
Tenterden is the closest town.

- Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch 15-inch guage railway is nearby.
- Sissinghurst castle gardens; 25 minutes away.
- Canterbury a UNESCO world heritage site with its famous cathedral; 45 minutes away.
- Hastings and the town of Battle; about 45 minutes away.
- Biddenden vineyards, Kent’s oldest commercial vineyard; 20 minutes away.
- Port Lympne Wild Animal Park with the largest breeding herd of Black Rhinoceros outside Africa; 20 minutes away.
- Dover castle including the secret wartime (WW2) tunnels; about 40 minutes away.
- South of England Rare breeds centre at Woodchurch; 10 minutes away.
- Eurostar services at Ashford International railway station (20 minutes away), along
with the port of Dover (45 minutes away) enable day trips to France.
